What is Army Body Fat Calculator?

The US Army uses a circumference-based equation to estimate body fat when a service member exceeds the weight-for-height screen. It measures the neck and waist for men, and the neck, waist and hip for women, and combines them with height in a logarithmic formula. This calculator applies the same equation so you can reproduce the estimate at home. As with all tape methods, technique matters: measure at the standard sites, keep the tape horizontal and snug, and take each reading more than once. The result is an estimate, not the official assessment, and it carries the same 3–4 percentage-point accuracy range as other circumference methods.
